Re: Millars hit and miss
Hi Ian, take a look at the two pictures, also on the engine trolley of the Millar engine. I'm not sure if this is what you want to know? Both of these engine look very similar to me, so it could be a Bamford and Millar was an engineering company that fitted something to the engine and re-labelled it. I also found that Millar made a sludge pump. But I'm not sure, maybe someone else will have more knowledge then me, but I hope it gives you some clues.

Cheers guys
There is one on a auction site, (you can guess which one) look nice and it's a hit and miss and i need one
So you know what the next question is going to be
How much is it worth, could be a present for the wife

Very nice looking engine, I see the same seller sold an Amanco 3hp show condition in June for £790 now I'm wondering what else he has in his shed?

Re: Millars hit and miss
Millars Machinery Co Ltd, Pinners Hall London worked with bamfords for many years from what i can make out i believe from about the first world war and at least 1930. I dont know much but they had a manufacturing unit somwhere aroud the birchanger green area and part of the building is still there but is office block now. I dont know much other than this and have been looking for many years but i have good news. The October issue of S.E.M. magazine No 427 will be doing a feature on their relationship with bamfords. Maybe we will all find out then.
Jez
P.S. Reason for interest is that my 1931 lister D carries a brass plate from Millars.
