How much fuel do you use if you run an engine all day at a rally, say on a Lister D.

My hit and miss engines are very good on fuel but the throttlers are murder. The 12hp R&V would be lucky to use a litre a day while my Buzacotts or the throttle governed YC Stover go through 3 or 4 litres a day (sometimes more). The little R&Vs actually go through more fuel than the big one!
My Austral's fuel consumption varies on weather conditions. It goes through much more fuel on a cold day than a warm one. On a cold day it throws a lot of unburnt kerosene out of the exhuast due to it not vaporising correctly.

i usally fill the tank before i leave and then carry a full spare can, not many people agree with filling before you leave, but if your a steady driver youl be fine lol! is there someone you can go with on your first rally to show you the ways afro i made friends with a couple of lads down here so it were easy for me, which rally is your first anyhow

No I don't have anyone to attend with I've tried a few guys around here but no one will commit to going so the first event (all going well after my op.) will be Sept 6th. it's just a one day event, but I'm sure I'll make friends once I get there as a new face I think they'll be interested to know about me Laughing . The only other event I'm planning on this year is not till the beginning of Oct. and I do know 1 that will be showing and camping so that won't be to bad.
As for the fuel I'll just take some with me, I just don't want to buy to much over the winter and it going stale, or have a garden crank up every weekend Laughing

Ryan it's something we'd love to do, as I know you'd make us very welcome, and thank you for the offer. I know I keep going on about my back problem but it rules my life on just how much I can do and even to drive down there would take me days as it's about 450 miles and around 150 miles is my limit for 1 day. But if one day I could feel well enough to make the trip WE WILL do it. Just a bit of planning to take in a few rallies and one place thats not a rally but I'd realy enjoy going to is Mike's (benz) as he has some wonderful stuff there that I'd love to see. Also you'd have to drag Chris (Jonesey) along so I could meet him, of course not forgetting your crew Laughing So maybe a forum crank up on the cards in the next year or two Very Happy . or you could always get a 40 footer from work and head our way lol! .
