Side shaft engines? Empty Side shaft engines?

Post by Guest Sun Oct 10 2010, 21:49

Hello, been having a look at what to save up for, well after the baby, and I get back from Cyprus.

A side shaft engine kind of takes my fancy, but after some options, Im going to look at a trailer or van when I get back, so doesnt need to be very small, 1 1/2 - 2hp would be ideal 3-5hp would be big enough!

What type of engines would I be looking at?

Cheers Steve

I don't know what availabiltiy is like in the UK but over here you would be looking at a small Hornsby, Ruston Hornsby, National, Blackstone, or Austral (of course, Australs are very rare in the UK).

Yea those austral's are a nice looking engine, I think most side shafts are going to be to big for me really, The 2hp/1 1/2hp domestic are going to be about all I could handle really.

Owell, will see what I can do when I get back.

Thanks for your help

Cheers Steve

Im hoping to get a van when i get back in the country so shouldnt be to bad, think the price is the biggest issue, the 2 or 1 1/2hp's dont seem to bad, I knew someone who had a 3hp one, that was nice
