I've got a new big end bearing on order and I thought I'd unscrew the oil scoop and see how easily the bearing came out. The scoop was unscrewing fine (I thougt) until "tick" and it broke off. Anybody know where I can get a replacement?
It looks like somebody has given the big end a clout to stop it unscrewing in operation, so I shall have to tap it to fit a new one. Someone know the thread?

Jim.

Lister d oil scoop Empty Lister d conrod

Post by smenkhare Sun Nov 07 2010, 19:27

Thanks for your help, Mike. I got it all painted up today, looks nice! The only bit I've not done yet is the governer and camshaft assembly. I need to mark all the bits before I start to save messing around with the timing. I reckon another 2 weeks before it's running.

Jim.

Mike,
I certainly will post pictures of it when it's finished. Unfortunately I don't have any pictures of "before" because the guy who sold it to me kindly dismantled it (crankshaft out, governor and camshaft assembly out, head off, etc) so that I could get it in my car to bring it back here to Luxembourg. The Big end bush arrived this morning and the dipper is on its way, so when it arrives, I can correct my errors and get it back together.

All the best,

Jim.

P.S. Ian told me that yopu have a conrod for sale, if I can't fix mine, I might take it off you.

Hi, Folks!

Well, with judicious use of the milling attachment on my lathe, I was able to drill out the stump of the dipper. Everything is now together and running, just some small paint jobs and the transfers to do
Here's a picture of it (Thanks, Paul for your great explanation of how to do it!)
