Hi There,

It will depend where you take it i would think.

I need the same done to a small Honda jenny that ive got and was quoted £20, I wondered if it would be cheeper to get a set and do it myself but just never got round to it, typical really all these jobs and no time to do owt.

You can buy the helicoils and do it yourself. But by the time you buy the helicoil and the taps it could be cheaper to get someone to do it for you. Is it not just as easy to get another head?

I've been offered another head, just awaiting a reply from the seller.......

I might have a go at repairing it...I have a good workshop, lathe and 2 milling machines...and other stuff..

I guess I could turn up a brass insert... Smile

A quick update...

I managed to buy some 20mm taps/dies and a set of M14*1.25 taps...

I can now save the head by making a brass bush, only thing is the head wil take standard plugs in placeof the 18mm version...

Not a worry I think..
