Motorized bicycles
Hi guys.... hope this is in the right section and suitable for this forum, if not feel free to move it.
As i said in my intro, ive recently become interested in the hobby of building motorized bikes, vintage style. I built a couple with the cheap chinese kits but that soon became old and i wanted a true vintage touch to them. So i searched EBay and discovered the Villiers engines and i fell in love at first site. Absolutely what i was looking for and these old engines were actually used in early motorized bikes and small motorcycles.
Well i now own 4 Villiers engines, a cooper engine, 2 x 3hp Briggs and Stratton, 2 x 160cc Victas and a Honda GX160. I plan to build a lot more bikes and looking to learn more about these engines and what else is available.
You guys would know more about these then me so i wont babble on too much, if theres anything you wanna know dont hesitate to ask..... i know i have many questions....
So anyway last week i finished finished up my "Villiers board tracker" and i couldnt be happier. Hope you guys like it

Hi Steve, yeah i have that Villiers bike on youtube.... i have 2 videos: a stationary video (Villiers 98cc boardtrack racer stationary run) and a video of me riding it (Villiers 98cc boardtrack racer).
Im form Australia so im not sure what your laws are.... but here there is a limit of 200 watts for a motorized bike, and they make no mention on maximum cc's. So im just going to say its an early 98cc Villiers 1/4HP (which works at under 200watts), whereas i think these engines are actually rated at 1hp, is that correct???? So over here you just get on and ride, no rego or license. And so far i have ridden it and received no unwanted attention from the police but plenty of attention from other people

Yes as i said the second bike isnt finished, i just showed a pic of where i was up to. i still need to fit the secondary drive (chain), install my bent (oxy'd) cranks and a few other things to do yet
Scarf with wire? Now why didnt i think of that.... LOL and i definitely need to grow a big grey "handlebar" style moustache

Re: Motorized bicycles
Yeah it goes alright, top speed around 60kmh but its quite slow off the mark. This motor is probably a little slower then the 'chinagirl kits" but this sounds way better and will keep going..... cant say that about the chinese kits.
No, i havent seen a chainsaw bike

Re: Motorized bicycles
I think these bikes are great and a good use for the small engines that not mamy people want to bother with. The only thing I've ever seen done with these engines are Go-Karts as with them having a clutch are found to be more driver friendly.
Thanks for sharing the pics, I'll look the videos up later.
