I have now bought myself a trailer, (so i don't have to keep hireing one) and i have also bought myself an electric winch to go on the trailer, this engine of mine is quite heavy and it worries me when the wife has to keep pushing it around Laughing Laughing Laughing so that is why i bought the winch.

So over the weekend i am going to try and fit it to the trailer, if it stops raining, hopefuly it will be working for Morval rally next weekend Shocked

I've got a winch it was under £40 and it has forward and reverse so no worries about it flying off the back of the trailer on its own Laughing Laughing also a long hand control. I've not managed to sort out fitting to my new trailer yet but it will be fitted so it can be removed. I'll plug it into the tow bar socket for it's power. If you do the same you need heavy cable to the socket from the battery (with fuse) and have your van running when you use it as it has a large battery drain.

Dont wire you winch into your tow bar socket, full load for my winch is i think is about 200amps, there is not enough power available and the wiring in your car wont be thick enough, i think (don't quote me on this) if you have a second trailer socket fitted, there is a wire that will supply enough power to charge a battery (for caravans) then have a battery in the corner of the trailer.

Will take a pic of mine tomorrow, i think you can just make out the winch in my video, but will take a proper one tomorrow.

I did send a reply to this yesterday and it,s not here confused confused confused

Yes they will be sometime in the future, it will probably be rushed through and b*llsed up as usual,

all trailers are going to have to have an MOT, this will not be carried out at the MOT testing station, but a trailer centre and they will more than likely be looking for a kite mark or a CE number, so home made trailers are out,

you can just imagine what is going to happen, wife takes trailer to be tested, ohh dear misses your number plate is loose best you by a new trailer from us at a trillion squid lol! lol! lol!

Ian sorry I'd didn't read your reply correctly, and just re-read it, cool idea to fit a battery to the corner of the trailer. Now see how many smart asses ask if that starts the engine in the trailer and how fast will it go. Ready for rallying Icon_lol Ready for rallying Icon_lol
