more villiers for the shed
ive been busy when i can with 6 engines of the villiers breed
but nearly completed a mk25 from 1944 and a V engine mk10 from 1946
total stripped them down and lapped in valves and deglazed bores and decoked totally ect ect
stripped sanded cure rusted and filled tinwork for them and a few others while im set up for the job
primed flatend and top coated
they looked better than the mk25 tvo i did last winter
put on the final layer of topcoat a was well
just gone back to turn the heater off for the night
and all 6 fuel tanks ,8 engine cowlings , 9 sumps and 15 misc tinworks for villiers
ALL LOOK LIKE THEYVE BEEN MOUNTED ON THE ROOF OF A CAR ON THE MOTORWAY ALL DAY
there are enough migess, moscetos, moths, daddy long legs and others stuck to then to play dot to dot
daddy long legs legs ripped off ,looks like i used a cheap and nasty paint brush and left the bristels in the finish everywere
the larger flys have dragged across the paint ad started runs of and the smaller ones have sunk into the paint to look like dirt in the paint
so to say the least im realy pissed/fcuk-d off
will post pics of disaster in a few days
but will carry on regardless

Re: more villiers for the shed
Kev I've just had the same problem but not quite on your scale as I've just sprayed the bonnet on my van, I didn't think there was any flys around but WRONG. It's not to bad as I'll let it dry off then brush them off. Maybe you should burn some of them citranella candles that flys don't like the smell of the next time. The bonnet I've just painted was just about finished all that was left was flatten it down for the last time, last top coat and what happens the wind blew it over and put a dint in it and I had to start again that pi55ed me off big time so know what your going through.

hii stu
i thought the same as you the were gone for the year
my engine paint is a slower drying time enamel paint
and the fly have sunk in and covered all over with a fine layer of the paint
so will have the salvage all that time and work as best i can
and tonight ive noticed 2 pieces ive painted the wrong colour as there for a second would war engine for the M.O..D
will try the colour contrast with the to colours before stipping and starting again
like i did the mk25 with a gloss grey tank and green cowlings and block
WELL WE ARE A PAIR OF FLY TRAPS lol
hope the bonnet works out well for you this time
do you still have you villiers wx11 ??
or know to one for sale in our middle travell zone or up your way ????
thanks kev

Re: more villiers for the shed
The WX was on ebay and I couldn't get it collected, but Bill of the forum got it did what was necessary to get it running and sold it on. The only other I know of from sale I've told you about in your other thread.
As for the bonnet it will have to do, don't know where I've gone wrong with my spraying but it looked rubbish and I even bought anther gun to see if that would help, but still crap I could be I've never used acyrilic paint and just could get the hang of it. So I'll leave it for now and might brush paint it next year.
