late night shopping in Bristol
Just been to pick it up, the missing bit of cowl is going to be posted onto me.
I spent over what I should have but 1 I have always said if one came up grab it! 2 its the 1st I seen for sale in a while 3 this on is coming in the box with me!, 4 was cheaper then a Amanco and there is less of them so made myself feel better about paying what I did on the car ride back! I does run as is (if it had a tank) a little miffed it need a little work to make it perfect!
Cheers Steve

It started fine, I didnt like how it run, couldn't get it slow enough for my liking, plus I didn't like the thin flywheel.

Re: late night shopping in Bristol
Right place, Right time right size, and its one of the less seen Stuart Turner, so to a stuart fan not one to miss, I like the look of the engine, just after a while the outboard thin flywheel just didnt look right to the engine to me, I dont like the Sattley but I still have it. Again what does it matter what I do with my money? so please let me buy and sell my engines as I see fit. I posted this picture as I thought we would be more intrested in this quite rare engine instead of picking holes in me! I wont bother in future.

Cheers Tony, It was the Mrs Idea! I kind of think I should have bought the Mathews lite at Enstone, but am more then happy with the Stuart, I bet they will start coming out of the wood work now!

Re: late night shopping in Bristol
Had a good looking side today, checked the bore, rings bearing etc and cleaned out all the sludgy oil.
This engine has a load if interesting feature, you can tell when a engine is built down to a weight when the piston is drilled.
Oh yes the carb, I have a carb top and it fits after a little machining, One problem I have now is the remains of the alloy one is stuck in the threads so I cant screw it down, so the next task is to dig out all the old carb top.
Cheers Steve

Re: late night shopping in Bristol
Bit of a update on this one......
I started her up to make sure all was ok, was hoping to bring it to Henham but its running far to warm with only one part of the cowling.
Not sure what to bring up to Henham, would like to take either of the Scotts but dont fancy the fuel bill! My Norman SC is running again but would feel a bit bad bringing that, see how it goes.
Cheers Steve

Steve,
Ive just re read this post and wondered where all the pictures have went?
As the first lot of posts by yourself dont have any and im sure you would have put pictures up.
Did the person who you bought the engine from not post the cowling to you?
Paul

Re: late night shopping in Bristol
Steve will the cowl help to cool it or could the timing be out? or you going to wait before doing any changes.
Dig deep and take the Scott, something different on the field, go on we know you want to

Re: late night shopping in Bristol
Definitely the cowling the other one side is just right, the fan on this is very efficient, at the mo all the air for that cylinder is being blown sideways.

Re: late night shopping in Bristol
Cowling is here!
After a bit of fettering it was fitted and the engine was up and running, and a lot cooler
Will hopefully get it out in 2012
One of the 14 back running right
Cheers Steve
