Half a Gallon if that a day, my grandfathers would run on a full fuel tank with just a top up to for a weekend, my Tank cooled was about the same drinking about 3-4 pints.

wx11 wah 200 video 2
moved the timing slightly but think it needs moving slightly more but runs at alower rpm now and less miss firing
theres no spark until you pull it over at a high rpm
https://youtu.be/xYg5wuRSFk4
any idea the couse as normally theres a sparrk or no spark with aircooled villiers at any rpm from 1-2 rpm upwards
again im confused dot.com
thanks kev

Re: villiers wx11 collected and home
Two stroke will misfire off load, need a fair amount to get them to two stroke proper, you dont want to run them to slow want to make sure the oil gets around.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BOoJJjfqj3k&feature=related
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uDXH7And2cg
I normally set the points as in my Video then adjust the length of the throttle rod to slow them down.
Cheers Steve
Edit, seen the misfire now, most likely timing, what mixture are you running?
This is how you would time it pretty much to the book.

Re: villiers wx11 collected and home
Is it just me or is there some kind of knock as if it's firing at the wrong time? I'm sure you'll soon sort it and hve it running smooth Kev, just trail and error, sometime I find it's best to set something on the marks then alter it to run better, if you don't know the full engine history you don't know what's been changed or altered over the years.

yes the timing is still out but stripping electrics down as spark is poor weak
and will set it up more to the letter than it was before as it was a sod to start and popping and farting along

restoration underway WX11
Re: VILLIERS WX11
Skankin_giant on Mon Oct 31, 2011 1:06 pm
Has the link be removed? cant see where it was before.
anyway, I dont think this one has the bronze head, cant really see from that angle, looks like a earlier headless model, so dont think there is anymore brass on the engine, I think WX11 look pants working clothes, think they are like stuarts need to be shown at there best.
Give the flywheel a good rock side to side and up and down, these suffer with big end trouble, you would hear it clunking, and there might be a fair amount of float, be handy to get the drive belt removed as this might be keeping things tight.
Cheers Steve

Phosphor bronze small end, roller mains and big end.
If you look at the pictures of the 2 I posted they both have to the correct filter, can be a pain to find.
Most would have been Villiers Green, which is a fairly lightish green, this sort of colour, this one has a rotator filter fitted.
Mine is Maroon as that was the colour it was when we bought it.
Fuel, mine would use a gallon over a weekend, deepening how you run it, they can use more.
Cheers Steve

I made a guide to timing up a WX11, also shows how a knocking big end sounds on a running one of these, if you see it running put a bit of load on the flywheel and this will also reveal a knock.

Hopper cooled WX11 is just over 24” high, by 16 1/2” at the 2 base mounting points, by 15’ across the crank shaft, will be longer with the pulley though.
Details are in the WX11 PDF I sent you.

fuel tank resoldered
kevjhnsn Yesterday at 3:39 pm
hi there
removed tank and had to stripe back to bare metal as tin worm is on a runner
got half a pound of rust from inside the tank as on foto in plastic bag
resoldered all the curved top of the tank as split open over the years or had a bang at some time in the past
tank is now airtight as when made again 80-90 years ago
ive also completly removed all electrics and given them a clean and coat of paint were needed
to preserve for as long as poss
could be doing with a ingition coil as she is getting low on output on the high tension side
if anyone has or knows to one
thanks kev

Looks as if you done a good job cleaning and repairing the tank Kev, do you put sealer in or not? When I got the WD8 it was full of rust so I used sealer on it seems to have done a good job but not yet tried it, but won't be long as I'm getting there slowly and I've even found the carb parts I lost

Dont think any wx11 is rare (well maybe the marine) the LZ is less common due to the short production run, but still a fair few around, the LZHA may been less common due to the fact people are put off by the higher oil to fuel ratio.
Cheers Steve

Re: villiers wx11 collected and home
Nice one Kev it's good to pick up a bargin every now and then. But the prices of spares on ebay are unreal at times but if your desperate you have to pay the price, myself I tend just to keep looking till one comes along at a better price.
The seller Bacon butty has alot of stuff to sell as he seems to be on quite often, and some of his prices ain't to bad.
I missed out on a complete pump set up last week, it was just a Stuart pump but it had all the pipe work and an old milk churn as a tank went for £46 and I had a glitch with the internet and could get on to do a last second bid to steal it. The pump alone was worth that and it wasn't that far away and I know the seller, he has another small Lister pump on now so I'll get in a bit soon with my bid this time.

Re: villiers wx11 collected and home
will ive fitted the proper villiers air filter, exhurst down pipe and the coil had arrived a few days back so that has also been fitted
with a great big gap jumping spark and tipped a bit of fuel in the itake gave it a pull and away she whent
instead of the 5-10 mins of faffing and pulling like before whoop whoop happy with it now
just have to get it out and try it when ive swapped some parts onto the other wx11 LZH and see if its any good to start spending on

That's get news Kev, bet you breathed a bit of relief when she fired and found that the coil was not a waste of money. Keep us posted on what you plan to do next.
