hi there
ive got back into my shed and comenced working on the v engine electrics
got a oringinal coil from a back plate in my spares pile
it will now work with good blue spark through a plug to 1/4" gap
ive completly stripped and repainted the sump last night as it looked like it was done by a lava flow
and ive noticed the sump used to say """ THE V ENGINE """ but has been ground of at some point
so i will be making another sump gasket and fitting sump on again add some oil and fuel and give it test run before finishing cowling and refitting fuel tank and fittings
thanks kev

hi there stu
i will post some fotos soon as
and im pssd off today as fired engine up started quickly for me
ran it for 30 mins at tick over and the head split down the side of the plug and the inlet manifold cracked while cooling down after run
the only other 18mm plug head i have is with half a snapped of plug in it and ive got the inlet manifold of the same remains
so will be painting inlet later and drilling out the remains of the plug from the head and see if its anygood after ive done it
back to it later
thanks kev

Sounds like plug as been fitted too tight at some time ,or the heads been pulled down to much.
Did you have the engine covers on Idea , as they force air around the engine.
It's always a bas****d when everything go so well and something go's wrong.
Forget about it Kev you will find another head somewere

i think that the model 18mm plugs are the couse as they are tappered out at the seat, and not like the old ones with the washer and flat shoulder to stop the plug dead to the head were the newer ones will screw in and start pushing the head out and over time slit it like a axe and a wedge in a log and split it goes
sanded and painted the inlet manifold
removed with drills hacksaw molegrips and a steady hand
it was well stuck in
had to cut it just above the head to get the ceramic center out and the drill it out to get a hack saw trough the center
and the
cut it up into six pieces to get it out and not a mark on the head whoopy lol lol
so head is now cleaned up and on its way back on i will have to reuse the head gasket as its only been on and run for 3/4hr so should be ok
thanks kev

Glad to hear your sorted Kev, I'll have to remember not to over tighten plugs as I'm a bit heavy handed Rolling Eyes

second test run
turned the fuel on bit of choke and fired twice ??????? would not start again love nor money
turned out to be the new spark plug
poped a old plug in tryed again and away she went
amazing how full suction to the carb and loads of compersion and a good sparkplug makes a engine runn LOL LOL LOL

SO NOW I NEED TO RESTORE THE COWLING AND
REDO THE FUEL TANK WITHOUT THE FLYS IN THE PAINT THIS TIME ROUND LOL LOL THEN MAKE SOMTHING FOR IT TO SIT ON
THEN JOB DONE WHOOOOPPPY

THEN BACK TO THE COWLINGS FOR THE VILLIERS MK25 1944

THANKS KEV J

Great you've got it sorted now Kev. Not many flys about now but it will take a week for the paint to dry.
