a stuart turner r2. don't know much about this engine but it is complete has compression and does spark.

if anyone can pass on any information on the r2 i would be grateful.

Very nice Richard so you found what you wanted you must be happy with it. I've heard that David Edgington can date these engines but not sure what other info he can supply.

i put my r2 on a frame and started to couple it to my vacuum pump ( still looking for a stuart pump ). a bit of old angle and the welder and i came up with this.

got to come up with a way of connecting them next.
any ideas?.

Nice job Richard, it's strange I was thinking the same to use angle iron to build a frame for my P5 so I can then set the cooling tank and fuel tank on angle also.
As for joining the two together all I can think of is some kind of sleeve then clamp it on. Don't know if you could get some solid round bar bored out to the size you need then put a split in each end and clamp with maybe just 2 hose clips each end so it's not to out of balance.

sleeve made with keyways cut to suit engine and pump then a peice of key steel in each keyway with a grub scre or pinch bolt ... Thats what i would be tempted to do .

My old vacuum pump lives Richard! Pleased that you found a use for it. A pity that the shaft's are different diameters else you could use a rubber hose and jubillee clips, same as on JAP charging sets and Gardner alternator's. At least then if the pump should sieze up the rubber drive would break.

its been sat in the shed since you sent it to me peter, the pump gives the stuart enough load to make it run nice. the connector shouldn't be a problem now, lots of good ideas from the forum members.
