Post by kevjhnsn on Tue Jun 26 2012, 18:28

hi there
1) what would you call a safe amount of play in the crank and bigend bearings ????

i have a small amount of play in them all but when do they need to be reshimmed
it sayswhen knocking is heard in my manual ,but to me that when trouble had already started with the higher reving modern engines
what do the exspereanced men on here say please

2 ) also what is the correct size of the petrol cheeck valve in fuel line and should the be one in the parrafin side?????

Kev you only need one of the ball valves in the fuel line and it needs turning up so the nuts at the top
The ball will not shut the fuel off like it is.
They should be on the tank end.

Hi Kev, Make it your self not difficult. I use Klingersil gasket material....I cannot remember the thickness. You will get it on Ebay..go for the thickest.....1.5mm rings a bell.
