HELP NEEDED VILLIERS ENGINE Empty HELP NEEDED VILLIERS ENGINE

Post by HenryBeams Mon Jun 25 2012, 21:11

Hi,
I have a villiers mk12/C12 engine, on the engine shroud it says to start engine turn propane cylinder valve half a turn, i have noticed that on other villiers mk 12/c12 engines it says open petrol tap, i want to know if i can run my engine on petrol or can it only be ran on propane, do i need a replacement carburettor? will it damage my engine? I just need some advice because i would love to have this engine running.
Thanks

Hi Henry. There are a few Propane powered Villiers about and I THINK that the carb is different but not 100% certain. Kevin Johnson may know if he sees this thread. If I was you I would use Propane but you will need the proper regulator and gas valve so if those are missing then the engine can be run on petrol with a 'normal' carb and of course a fuel tank with no problem.

Pete.

what model is the carb
me thinks the type with the filter on the bottom of ???
also is there a brass needle in the side of the carb ????
if you wanting to run with gas you also need a diafram valve inbertween the bottle regulator and the carb usually about 6" in diameter
bolted to top of cowling or the frame the engine came from if you have no diafram ,DONT USE ANY GAS OR YOU WILL HAVE A BIG BANG FROM THE
ENGINE AND MAYBE A TRIP TO HOSPITAL

as you can now see thanks to stu
the gas goes in carb vertically via the blue diafram
were as petrol goes in horizontal same side of the carb just below the gas fitting.
this is the at a glance differences,
there are more internal differences but thats when you take it apart
but for now
any questions just ask on post or pm me

Thanks for the photos, looking at those pics the carb looks similar but different, the fuel fitting on mine is a horizontal one, inside it looks like a regular petrol carburettor. I will get the model of the carb to you soon.

any further advice is apreciated

I'm not 100% sure but it sounds like you may just have a petrol engine that has a universal sticker put on at the factory for engine starting. I may be wrong so look forward to seeing the pics to see if we can decide one way or another what it is.

B10/1 B10/2 carb is fitted to petrol type engines
LP-G200 is the model on the gas bagged engine
for petrol models, there will be a little flick lever see arrow for the choke on starting engine
this is not fitted to gas type engines
