A Wolseley at last!!!! Empty A Wolseley at last!!!!

Post by blackvanman Mon Nov 26 2012, 22:32

Been out tonight and picked up a WD8 Smile
Pics tomorrow, it all came about through some friends of my fathers who I met up with on Sunday at the brickworks. On the face of it she has a load of surface rust as the paint was removed by the previous owner (before the person I got it from), the piston is seized in the bore (no biggy), mag has a spark but plastic cover is broken, a valve is stuck and a new zorst be required. Watch this space................and lets hope I don't get too many call outs this week so I have more play time Very Happy.

Bit special this to be honest, my Granddad had a WD2, it is still in the family as my brother has it, but its sat under cover at my parents in running order. Hopefully it will be back on the rally field next season. This is the whole reason I wanted a Wolseley, ok his was a wd2 and this is a wd8, but they look pretty much the same, also this one is a 2 1/4 hp @ 900 rpm which I am lead to believe isn't that common. A little research puts her at around 1956-7.

Will get it out in the morning for a minor photo shoot Smile

Larger crankshaft for one thing, WD2 has 11/4" Diameter and the WD8 has 11/2".

Don't have a shed Stu, bricks and mortar Smile The garage is my workshop, my den and my peace haven Very Happy (in fact I think I shall put that in my signature).

Been a crap week for engines, plenty of work and both kids have been ill, Alan got a nasty cold that made even him sit still on the sofa for 2 days, then Jessica our ten month old got it, no sleep for 3 days isn't great lol.

However! Managed an hour out there this afternoon and have regained compression to a reasonable level, so 1 out of 3 isn't bad, just ignition and fuel to sort Very Happy May whip the mag of again later if a chance arises and have a look at that impulse coupling scratch
