I have recently got a new project; a Ruston Hornsby PT with a Lucas RS 1 Mag on it. The piston is free but the mag wasnt turning. Upon removal of the drive gear plate i can see there are teeth missing off the gears! Can anyone help with spares or where I can get some new ones made?

Many Thanks
Adam

Thanks for your reply.
I will strip it down and look at them. There appear to be three gears, one crank side, a larger one in the middle and then the mag gear. It is the one in the middle that is missing teeth and cracked. I am new to stationary engines, I usually work on Massey Ferguson tractors - much simpler!

I would rather say that stationary engines are much much simpler than tractors , used to have a fergie took over a year to restore and a engine .... well can do it in a month if work on it most spare time .

i believe the gears are the same as a WD woselly , ask matt h he may be able to fill you in .

wd's are quiet engines they were designed for the sheep farmers on sheering machines

Quite a few myths appearing in this thread:-

The mag drive gears on a PT are NOT the same as on a Wolseley. Additionally you need to be aware that there are two sets of gear trains for the mag drive, depending on which mag is fitted. A Lucas mag is driven at camshaft speed whereas the Wico mag is driven at crankshaft speed.

The WD was not designed for Sheep shearing use but as the letters say WD for War Department.
