Is there any difference between the ordinary petrol & the petrol/paraffin carbs on a Lister D???

Apart from a different throttle spindle and lever the carbs are the same.

Pete.

Should be correct for a reverse rotation engine then? (Just out of idle curiosity, you understand).

Pete you're a life-saver! I literally had about 12 minutes to get that question answered. I've just won one on eBay.

I will couple that with the new mag chain (when it eventually arrives. Good old Stationaryengineparts.com, bless them, they can be a bit slow) & see if it helps get the boy's Lister running before Christmas. Very Happy

you sure about that as i have changed quite a few from petrol to parrafin by knocking out the pin in the throttle arm and undoing the spindle from the butterfly and swapping them from side to side and flipping the butterfly over refit as removed and they will work just as they should I am sure(but without a manual to hand i cannot 100% check A pic) if the part numbers are the same for parrafin or petrol models..

I know that the crank lever on the spindle is a different part number from clock to anti clock Jay, though some folk have redrilled them, but I think that otherwise they are the same? My parts list is in my van which is a solid block of ice at the moment so I cant check. Shocked

Wow you guys are throwing your money about and so close to Christmas I'm sure the boys will be very grateful for what your doing.
I know the guy you bought the carb off I was at his home about 2 weeks ago picking something up so it should be a good un.

It's not so much to spend really, the carb is less than £15 posted & the chain is around a tenner. I think we're gona need these bits anyway, so might as well get them while they're about.

The guy I bought the carb from seems really nice, I saw where he was from & wondered if you knew him. He's kept me well informed of what's happening & even went & posted it for me this morning.

What a nice man. Very Happy (He'll be getting a good feedback).

Why a paraffin carb? And will it work on a reverse rotation engine? I thought they were different.
It looks very nice and a good price but I just wonder why we needed a new carb, is there a conversation I've missed somewhere?

The 'paraffin' carb will work on a reverse rotation engine...as long as it isn't a 'parrafin' reverse rotation! Then you would need a standard rotation carb as everything requires swapping again! To try and clarify, a standard carb will also fit a reverse rotation parrafin engine, a reverse rotation carb will also fit a standard rotation paraffin engine. There, that was as clear as mud wasn't it? Wink And no, I dont know why you needed a carb in the first place either! Laughing

Ian, the paraffin carbs have the throttle lever on the right hand side, as do the reverse rotation carbs. There is no difference in jetting as there is no "jetting" as such on a Lister D carb, so for us this is a reverse rotation carb, forget the paraffin bit, just forget paraffin ever existed (but why does it have 2 "F's"??? Oh never mind!)

I personally think our starting troubles are fuel derived, therefore I went ahead & bought this, rather cheap, replacement carb for our engine in the hope it will help us get it running.

The mag chain arrived this morning, the carb is on its' way, so we may have it started next time I'm over (we need to be careful with that handle though, I'll bring a decent file with me as well).

Haven't tried it yet Matt. It does look a bit chunky from memory of the other one. Will report back when I've tried it out. I just hope it fits, it looks a bit short to me, but it's probably fine.
