ANOTHER ENGINE
Hi Guys,
I have been out tonight an purchased another engine.
It's a 1931 Lister A - 3HP
It has been pretty much restored, but I will probably change a few things on it like the trolley. I fancy making up a nice oak one for it, should look great with my H2 pump that I am now finishing.
A few cosmetic things need to be done, but nothing that will cause a problem.
I think the paint is slightly the wrong shade so will probably re-paint as well.
It is a genuine Cornish engine and has spent all of it's life on farms in the Helston area.
Started easy and is running fairly even. check bearings etc and no play in them.
Managed to get it for £220, which I thought was pretty good, what do you guys think??
Picking it up on sunday evening, I will post some pictures then.
regards
Martin

Cant wait to get it home and have a play.
Yes it is a bit of a beast, but did not appear to kick back. (Time will tell)
How is the old boy anyway, must have frightend the S--t out of him when his sight went.
I ended up in A & E last year when I had an allergic reaction to Optrex Conjunctivitus drops. It aint nice when you cant see, I looked like someone had given me a good smackin. I know how he is feeling.
I had a double whammy that night cause when we got back we found my dad at the bottom of my stairs with a broken leg in three places. Ohhh joy it was back down to A&E!!!
He loves babysitting - buy dont go upstairs much anymore, wonder why??
Get better soon mate, youll have to come over with pink lady one night for a few drinks an play engines when yer better.
Regards
Martin.

Chris,
The Lister A is going to be a new challenge for me.
Any advise on this one will be gratefully recieved.
It seemed ok when the guy started it, seemd fairly effortless.

Martin.

Adam
It was in the november issue of Stationary Engine magazine.
Needs a bit of work doing to get it as it should be, but seems to run fine.

No Way!! - it's mine!!!!!

Worked a treat.......................

Chris,
If I said "Bitch I am buying another engine", I would be waking up in hospital in the ITU dept.
Believe you me, you dont speak to "The Old Cornish Birds" like that. (softly softly, nicely nicely) works really well!!
