This came in the yard today dated 1886 -1892, boss let me have it for scrap value was going to take the handle off and run it off an engine but think instead will just keep it for a static display, now I know what it is but how many of you do lol

its either an early flux capacitor, or a castration device. Or if I had to make a propper guess maybe a wire barber thingme ma dooda lol

hmm - I think you're being crafty and hiding the real workings on the back side of this picture - so my guess is a rather poor attempt.... some kind of spring manufacturing device?
