Hello together
I have a Villiers MK 15 with a foot pedal-start and I need to separate if from the drive shaft. For this to happen I need first to remove the belt pulley.  The locking nut came off easily enough but the pulley is going nowhere.https://2img.net/i/fa/i/smiles/kopfschuettel.gif.

I see that the thread passes into the pulley so I do not know if the pulley is threaded on or that i need to use a 3 jaw gear puller?  I also notice two holes in the pulley that might suggest a special tool for the job.

Any suggestions, or advice would be appreciated.

Many thanks

James

From memory the pulley is just keyed to the shaft, should come off with a puller.

But never mind - all part of the learning curve.  I'm going to go with the treaded theory. I'll let you know how i get on if you like.

Thanks

James

Never had a 15 and can't get to my manuals at the mo.  Looks like the shaft is keyed. Plenty of heat and Plus Gas needed.

Check if the two holes are threaded - maybe screw bolts in to press the pully off.

99.9999999% sure it isn't threaded, you can see the keyway in the pulley in your photo...

I've had a quick look in my pdf manual but can't see any reference to the kick start/pulley, I'll have a look in my paper copy tomorrow.

FWIW, the pulley on my MK15 has been broken and brazed up...

None of the parts books I've got show illustrations of the kick start components, just a list of part numbers. The pulley is EM.1218 (the starter dog is part of the pulley)

Hello Together.

Hi Mattblack, you were right it was keyed on and perhaps if I had placed the puller on the back of the pulley i might not of broken it.  Anyway it is off now.  Many thanks for yours  and others for your imput and comments.
