wx11 governor
Im having a hard time getting the governor on my wx11 to fit together, The engine came to me in bits, Im 99% sure I have all the bits but I cant figure out the way to assemble it, I believe engines of different years had slightly different parts, any help appreciated.

Re: wx11 governor
i see the external guvernoir carb lever adjusting spring set up is still together
this will make it very hard to get back together and it can wedge up the pointy end tip in the big spring that pushes onto the internal fork levers external dimped stumpy lever also watch it when you unscrew the knurled long chromed adjuster as it can have a good load of pressure and trap your fingers in the alloy electrics backplate, it goes on again ok but need to have a small lever bar and passents to thread back on but will save you hours on the rebuilding of the internals

Re: wx11 governor
thanks for the excellent pics, The problem on mine seems to be the central collar that slips over the crank ( top right in my pic) this seens to be about 15mm too long, so the brass weight unit is too far out and the cover wont go on.

its usually long side on first have you tryed that mate
if not try this
as above have you disasembled these parts look at the flywheel side and the chromed stumpy arm the follow it through the block to the chromed shaft/sleeve with the knurled knob/nut at the far side under the carb next to the magneto flywheel side back plate
this is were a very sprong spring lives in that tube and will be very hard to move from the out possition on the forks internaly with it under tension from the said spring , that does usually wedge up when beyound the assembled engine setup
so remove the big knurled nut on sleeve "watch your fingers as a good load should be still on it
"trust me if that spring tensioner system is still all asembled " even with the carb disconected " there is 20-30 or more lbs of pressure still left to fight you all the way "DONT LOSTEN THE STUMPY LEVER BY THE FLYWHEEL AS THERES A BULLET SHAPED BIT AT THE END OF THE SPRING SYSTEM AND IT WILL GO BANG AND FLY LIKE A BULLET TO and you still end up having to undo the knurled nut any way to get it back together again i got that t-shirt

Re: wx11 governor
Panic over governor is together, I had to slit the crankcase again, as that collar you see in my first pic goes thru the casing from the inside.... when I put the new mains in I forgot about this! Thanks for the help,

Re: wx11 governor
I've used some stuff called "Tesnit" to make a head gasket for a Stuart Turner, which worked well.
It's available on eBay from a place called TYM Seals & Gaskets. I would say you want about 1.5mm or 2mm thickness (can't remember which I used now).
Of course the best would be a solid copper gasket, but it's not easy to make one. That Tesnit stuff is actually quite easy to work with.

is yours a split head or a blind head as this will matter what you can use for the job
the split head type is in the guvernoir pics but the black and grey complet engine is a blind head earlyer style
cant tell from you photos mate
