Post by matt86 on Wed Mar 20 2013, 22:55

Enstone sort out 2013 this April Sat 13th on enstone airfield in oxon (off the B4022)

Probally the best engine sale around i would say !

this year they are opening the gates at 6.30 as last time the traffic was a nightmare .

Matt

Matt sorry to jump into your thread but I've been trying to find out a post code for anyone going that's not been there before. All I can find is it's (off the B4022)
Also what I did find was more sort out dates but they must be smaller events.

Hmm, wonder if I can sort anything out with Ian & his people carrier. My dad took 6 adults in his, all the way to Shepton Mallet & there was plenty of room, quite a comfortable journey actually. All but me were OAPs as well, & none had trouble getting in or out & no one complained about any lack of room. If Ian could clear his out & put the seats in the back (all adult size seats) a few of us could chip in on fuel costs.

Dunno if anyone in this area would be interested? We could easily go up the A23/M23 way, picking anyone up along the way. If there was only 4 of us we'd still have a good space left for whatever we bought (they've got a very good payload these cars, easily up to the job, also you can leave an empty space all down the centre for long items, as there's no handbrake or gear stick in the centre you get the full length of the car).

Could cut costs considerably, but I think Ian would need some convincing.

I will have to see Matt, I have an engine to drop off at Diddy Dave's so we are planning to take the caravan down maybe next weekend or so. Will have to see how the weather is as at present I cannot get near my caravan for snow!

OK Matt, you're leaving yourself wide open to various jokes there about milking set-ups & your other half, but I'm not going to stoop to that level (yet).

I think it's nice when the other half wants to get involved. But if it's going to be her engine she should really get properly involved. She should be able to start it & keep it running. Clean the points & the spark plug. Maybe even do the oil change at the end of the season? Next thing you know she'll be a forum member & writing her own threads (although I'm not sure most women want to take things that far).

She wants a engine but she dont want to get dirty she said and let me do that bit . but once i got it going il get her to start it , as i dont think she will be able to swing it over due to the compression . She couldnt with my old D type .

Will have to wait and see .

Nutgine , you going to enstone or not ?

I'm not going this time Matt, it's just too far (145 miles each way for me) & I'm too skint. If I went I would have to spend all my engine money on getting there. I've asked a couple of people to keep their eyes open for some specific bits for me though.

Maybe next time? I really need to know when the next one is so I can prepare myself for it, save some money & arrange it properly, possibly booking into a camp site nearby so I can get there early.
