Picked up this International LAA engine a couple of days ago. Used to belong to my Grandfather, then sold, then bought back! Very Happy

Has anyone got the book on engines see what it says in there. Or maybe smithy might know with him just getting an LB and being around thises engines.
Might have to PM his lordship king if he hasn't read this post to get his expert opinion on the different types of IHC engines.

Hello all, you too Stu lol.

I do remember running across the "LBA and LAA" designations and think it is just a mod indicator.
I'll look later and may be able to clear that up.
Nice engine too!

Regards, John.

International LAA Empty Re: International LAA

Post by Smitty Fri May 24 2013, 23:30

Right..,

A short search and voila.., the LA designates the model and the extra A designates the hp, in this case 1-1/2 to 2-1/2 throttleable.
I suppose then that just LA would be the 1-1/2hp one.
The LB is the 3-5hp version. Scratch that.., the LBA is the 3-5 hp one Rolling Eyes :stick lol:

Hope that helps,

John.

Now I have to do a bit of looking at my LB again as I'm sure it's a 1-1/2 to 2-1/2hp engine, it has the throttle handle to regulate hp.
Probably my beer saturation level has over extended.
I'll check when I get back from this trip.

Cheers from sunny wet San Antonio, TX,

John.

Well I knew the LA was the first one produced then the LB so don't know where the LAA and LBA would fit into the production run. I don't know where I've put my LB engine details but I think mine was around 1940.

In El Paso TX now, and parked for tomorrow and Monday.

Any way.., mine's an LBA if I'm not mistaken, so a 3-5hp engine.
Shame on me for not registering its pedigree right off and writing it down. (First thing I did when I brought home the "D"!)
I'll double check that when I'm home.

Cheers, John.
