Firstly the Baldwin

and the Sissons

I know a fair bit about the history of the Sissons.  It was built in the 70s for Exeter University as a teaching engine.  It was rescued and eventually came to me.  The Baldwin is apparently a 1874 engine but I don't know much of it's history.  Now all I need is a boiler!

Hopefully I'll persuade one of the full size steamers to 'lend' me some steam next time I have them at a rally.  Unfortunately the trailer that the Baldwin is on isn't really suitable and doesn't tow well, so we are looking at alternative options.  Personally I want to get a Scammell mechanical horse and put the Baldwin, Sissons and Boiler directly on the trailer but my boyfriend might try to claim it for his Scammell collection!

What a lovely pair of engines. If I had to pick a favourite it would have to be the Sissons. Looks like a very compact unit. Although I suppose a boiler will probably make it slightly less so Smile.

Love it. You don't see enough steam stationary engines about, although I can understand why.
