Norman T300 Magneto
Hi, im looking at a Norman T300 flat twin that i may buy but its missing the magneto along with a few other things.
Does anyone know what magnetos can be used on the Norman?
So far i have found that a BTH MC2 will fit but im strugling to find out any other info on twin magnetos
Any help would be appreciated before i decide to buy it or not.
Regards
Andrew

Re: Norman T300 Magneto
They were fitted with the twin lead Wico impulse mags aswell and the BTH MC2, the MC2 was generally fitted to the mk1 versions and the Wico to the mk2's

Re: Norman T300 Magneto
Thank you for your help
Whats the differences between the Mk1 and the MK2, appart from the mags? with the mag missing its hard for me to tell.
The engine isnt in the best condition but if i do buy it i wanted to make sure i could get the right mag.
Could any one point me in the right direction to where i could get one if i do buy it?
Many thanks

Re: Norman T300 Magneto
The main difference between the Mk1 & Mk2 is the casting at the top of the timing cover , the Mk1 is rounded and the Mk2 is flat with two threaded holes in, as for the mag, its a case of search search search until one turns up, may be better to find a complete engine IMHO as that would be cheaper especially if it has a working mag, I have 5 Normans here, great engines but may be moving one or two on soon,

Re: Norman T300 Magneto
It makes no difference whether its a mk1 or 2 , the mags are totally interchangeable on either.

Edit* Although the bth mag looks better IMHO as the Wico is very bulky on a Norman !!

Re: Norman T300 Magneto
Thanks for he help everyone.
I have a feeling it wont be cost effective to repair the one im looking at but you never know, there may still be a mag in the barn, I do remember seeing about 50+ of them but i have a feeling the guy said he took them too the tip cos he didnt know what they were off!!!!!!!!! it make you want to cry! I dont want to be spending too much money unnecessarily.
I would agree that the TBH MC2 looks better on the Norman from what ive seen. looks more tidy
