R.J.Hornsby 115HP Single Cylinder Gas Engine Model No 40992

Hi All.

I'm looking for information on a Hornsby Gas fired engine that was used as an irrigation pump for many years on the Murray River down here in Oz. This engine was run on producer-gas derived from Eucalypt hardwood/charcoal. This type was commonly used to generate electricity in country towns in the early part of the 20th century. This particular unit most probably started life off as part of an electrical generation system, and once mains power electricity arrived it was sold off to a land-holder to drive an irrigation pump.
We know it was used until 1956 to drive a 21" centrifical pump. It was run for 24 hrs a day during the season with a three man crew manning it during the day and a two man crew at night. This is about the limit of our knowledge.
My main questions to everyone are:
1. Engine rufurbishment knowledge. ie: Factory diagrams, manuals etc.
2. Details on how the gasification process worked.

My main area of interest is in the gasification process. Information on the engine (and gasification process) will be passed on to the historical society that has been granted Federal Government funds to rebuild/restore the motor.
