Petter M Apple/ Acorn/ Straight sided hopper casting help required

Hello Good People (and the rest of you),

There is a local plant equipment rental store whose owner is packing up and sailing away to retirement. In his sheds he has a number of Petter Ms in various stages of decomposition. One issue is that non of them have any useable hoppers - all cracked through or missing due to an accident in the 1970's 9apart from that they are stored in heavy grease and covered in grease paper - pretty good condition - semi easy restoration - my question to you good people is can you offer information on either converting a tank cooled Petter to a hopper cooled version (one was tank cooled but that kit has gone missing too - including cyclinder head and hoses) and if its just a case of replacing the head with a hopper/head then do you know of anybody who could cast/manufacturer a new one/ pattern part (as finding originals seems to be like finding hens teeth!)

Any assistance or suggestions gladly taken!

Nearly all Petter M blocks are the same, just different sizes for different HP ratings so in theory you should be able to fit a tank cooled head on a hopper cooled engine.

Unlike hens teeth you do see heads and hoppers now and then on ebay, and there was a few tank cooled heads for sale at Astle this year.

Ta Villers - I will keep my eyes open on fleabay - looking for an apple/acorn/straight sided hopper to replace a missing tank cooled head - looks like 3.5 - next issue is price......

Missing the head? Not a lot. No more than £100 I reckon

Okay - £100ish I could deal with - if the price remains this side of sensible for the units........ I have to wait until he returns from holiday on 3 weeks to find out
