saved from the scrap yard.
Hi guys,
I saved a Coventry victor WD1 engine a while back from most likely being scrapped.
luckily (for me) being under lockdown has given me the opportunity to restore this machine.
it was in a poor state, had been submerged for a while in seawater, and had seized. it had been on an old RML ship that was used during WWII.
the ship (broken up).
RML 526
the engine.
start of disassembly.
seized piston removed.
Piston being machined to remove corrosion on the crown.
piston cleaned.
Covers and Water pump cleaned.
oil gauge refurbished.
head and cylinder barrel cleaned and sorted.
Crank case and gears sorted.
CLICKY
Parts painted.
cooling solution visualized and implemented.
trolley visualised and built.
re-assembly
paired to the new trolley and plumbed fuel and cooling system in.
all done, will get it running on monday, thanks for reading

Excellent work and very interesting history. I'm sure I remember reading about the 'Western Lady' ferries in Old Glory magazine some years back.

Re: saved from the scrap yard.
cheers guys
almost broke my wrist starting it the other day
also had an exhaust leak into the cooling system so I had to rebuild my water channels on the head and barrel!
was going to weld them up to build material but I realised I had some Loctite metal set which is very good (and expensive)
hopefully, that's the pressurization fixed.
