Coventry Victor genset restoration

Post by janner on Thu Nov 07 2013, 22:07

I am making a start on getting my CV genset running, but alas have no spark but due to the ergonomics of the unit it is impossible to clean the points in situ, and heres my problem, I cannot get the mag to part with the governor drive flange on the end of the mag shaft rendering the mag stuck in place even with the locating bolts removed, the mag is loose but refuses to let go of the flange thus it cannot be pulled out rearwards like you would normally, any ideas ?? Thanks

Right !! As the admins are just as nuts as the forum knob jockeys, then I'll continue with this thread lol !! , Not in the shed tonight as been indoors all bloody night, so will upload over the weekend , really got me puzzled this has, as there is no clevis pin, no nut to undo, the only theory I have for the mag drive sprocket being held in place is either its threaded or a taper fit !! but surely either would have to be pretty spot on to aid timing ! Strange set up for sure..
