I have just acquired an international oil engine off flea-bay and I need a magneto if anyone has one or knows of an alternative

The international was a nice one as I saw it on ebay, though it didn't look like there was enough paint for u to leave it as oily rag.

yes it is very nice and complete apart from the magneto , every thing works and turns over so I don't think it will be a big job to get it running

its a understrike m ( ignitor fired ) engine looks to be a 1.1/2 hp the mag you require is a ihc type R mag i believe .

are they easily found matt ?

the engine must weigh at least 200pound plus maybe even 300 lbs plus and you say its only 1. 1/2 hp
it will be a very interesting project

i have a 3 and was a rather big lump

mags are hard to find , doubt you find one in the uk , try having a look and join smokstak forum

You could run it on a battery and lt coil until you find a mag, judging by the pics you're a fair way off that though. Looks like a nice project.
