Petter A1- Zenith's carberator

Post by Ally's_Engines on Sun Mar 02 2014, 12:02

I have attempted to start my petter A1 many times and all have failed. The reason being is because the Zenith's carberator is leaking badly. The petrol is going on top of the magneto and other various places. What I don't understand is, I've already put in a new gasket and its still leaking. What should I do  Question

Sounds like the float is stuck, a carb strip down and rebuild is called for making sure the float work ok...

It's leaking pretty much everywhere, out the choke, out of holes. But the seal where I put the gasket is ok I think.

FLOAT IS STUCK!!! READ MY POST> take it apart and clean it. Rebuild it carefully and make sure the float and needle are free and easy to move and that the needle seals when it is seated against the seat and that the float does.

Hi I used to have the same problem with my a1 . becuse the carb is an up draft model
every time you crank it over .and it dosent start or missfires petrol will just leak out
try terning the petrol of once the bowel full .and if it starts turn on .but the mag timming has to be right

hi crank
I agree with what "VILLIERS" is saying above ,
the gasket on the 24t2 carbs will not cure flooding issues
sounds like you have either a stuck float ,
or a sinker "leaky float fills up with fuel and sinks to allow flooding
or dirt in the fuel needle to seat allowing flow to continue after full stopping needle seating and sealing
try these first and remember the smallest bit of grit/fluff  will make a carb flood

The gasket I've put on is where the two main sections of the carb meet. Infact, I have discovered the problem. The float was actually stuck and after a clean out, I haven't encountered any more leaks.
