Karl' new toys! Empty Karl' new toys!

Post by EarlBathurst Sun Mar 09 2014, 20:29

More toys followed me home today:yahoo:
The first is a Bamford TulipTop 2-1/2hp@400rpm number 1360.
it's in good mechanical condition and has a rebuilt coil and re energized magnet,
apparently it hasn't been started since 1985 but when i got home i just couldn't resist putting some fuel in and having a go! after a couple of swings away it went, and continued to run for an hour ! -Result! Its not in original condition paint wise but looks ok for now!
Does anyone know where i can get it dated and any sales records?
Also lurking at the back of the same shed was this nice light switch board, it's a Lister one , and i'd like to hook it up to My CS9/1 once i can work out how to !(Does anyone know howto wire one up?)
Here's some pics of the days haul! https://youtu.be/2lMAJHMwJKA

very nice Karl. You have the early Bamford there. With the slanted main bearing caps.

They are a lovely engine and one your enjoy. I have one a 1925 model with Webster. So I'd date
Yours to around 1923 maybe a bit earlier.

They will run very slow. But doesn't do the igniters a lot of good they will get black and soot up.
Mine runs on a pint of petrol a day at 300rpm

Lovely engine made me want to go pull mine out from under its sheet now.
Lewis

The most sort after is the high tension with the Hills Bros Mag, not a lot survive.
