Lister D Starts then Races then Cuts Out
Hey Guys,
My Lister D sort of runs again but every time I start it it goes to Full Flat Revs and then Cuts Out.
I cleaned all parts of the Carb and Lines but still no joy.
Is there any chance that incorrectly seated valves or worn valves could cause this, as my engine came from a cement mixer and the valves have never been touched.
Could it be that or do you have any other suggestions on what it could be?
Cheers
Luke

Re: Lister D Starts then Races then Cuts Out
Have you checked to see if the governor is working properly? Sometimes the central rod which sticks out of the front of the round governor housing face can go a bit rusty and stick in place. Check it moves in and out freely, otherwise it won't work. Then check that the rest of the governor linkage is free and can operate OK. Sometimes if the engine has been knocked and it's bent something, the linkage can become tight and fail to operate properly.
I can post some photos to help explain the above if you are struggling to understand which bits to check. Hope this is useful to you, and best of luck getting it running OK.
