Hello I have recently bought a stationairy deutz 914 engine that wont run.
when i start it it runs for a few seconds and then stops.

anyone who can help me with this problem?

I changed the diesel filter and put new diesel in the tank.
when I turn the big flywheel I also get diesel out of the kopper pipe that goes to the diesel injector.

today I went to the engine shop in my town with the diesel injector.
It was tested and the guy found it perfectly.

he thought I have a problem with air in my diesel system.

I washed out all the air from the filter - line to the pump - pump itself - line to the injector- and injector itself.

I tested the injetor and pump bij turning the big flywheel and the diesel injector does its work perfectly.

so I thought I had solved the problem and put the injector in the engine head.

put A new spark lont in and tried to start again.

it turned and went on but after a few cranks say 10 seconds the engine died again.

dont know what to do now.
anyone can give me the golden idea?

greetings: Mark

Valve Clearances? Injector timing?

When you say is starts, does it run or just blow smoke balls?

Mark,

when you check the system for air was there any there? A diesel must have an air tight systm to run so check all your unions/connection to make sure there tight. If you get it started then it dies away do you find air in the system, check the seals on the fuel filter also. If you can get it to run try leaving the bleed screw open on the pump just a touch and see if any air comes out, just one or 2 bubbles or is it just pure diesel.
Has it got good compression?
What do you mean by "put A new spark lont in and tried to start again."

Hope that helps,

Stu.
