Re: Petter A1 Project
As our Villiers MK20 HS project seems about to hit the buffers we thought we might try the air filter on the Petter A1. Okay, it's a bit of Frankenstein job but we reckon it looks something like. What do you think?

Thanks. Sadly it will have to go to auction shortly as I keep tripping over it whilst working on new projects.

Re: Petter A1 Project
The idea with shorting out the high tension, or rather not operating the mag when the secondary is open circuit, is that with no "load" the secondary voltage can get extremely high if it is not absorbed in a spark or short, so high that it can break down the coil insulation and in for practical purposes destroy the coil.
BTW air (even with fuel in it), at high pressure has much higher resistance than at atmospheric, hence some old spark plugs break down at high throttle (when compression is higher, therefore spark voltage is higher), even though they appear to test OK at atmospheric, and cause misfire when you try to load the engine or open the throttle much.

You can make your own like I did - https://ukengineforum.forumotion.com/t9465-gib-key-extractor
or buy one from Ebay - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/182963279071
Both types work fine

Re: Petter A1 Project
That type wont work on the belt drum of the one I've bought unfortunately but thank you.
Sorry I cannot post a picture yet
I think your DIY one would be too big also to fit inside the drum.
EDIT that Wolsley WD2 you sold was a thing of beauty

What about this type - bit pricey mind.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/254428686203
Second thought. I think I still have mine somewhere and unlikely to get another A1 - will check tomorrow.

Yes that's what I need but on top of that price from India will be duty and VAT so just not worth it.
I've seen one fella use a slide hammer with a hook on the end.
