I'm doing my first engine restoration - a J.A.P. Model 2A (its brother the Model 2S is waiting in the wings as my next restoration too)

Trying to get this pulley wheel off - but not sure what the procedure is.

Anyone seen them before??

I gather something goes in through that big hole, and there is a corresponding hole on the inner wheel exactly lined up- I have stuck a screw driver in there but nothing seems to press, nothing seems to unscrew. I have got the big nut off - but need to get this off too to remove the crank. I can;t really see down inside it.

Anyone care to enlighten me?

Thanks heaps for any suggestions.... I'm guessing its pretty simple for someone who knows what they're doing Smile

There could be a grub screw in the hole, try putting an allen key in there.

Hi Ally - I tried putting a long Allen key through there - and lo and behold - once I had cleared all the junk out, the hole goes all the way through - now I can see right through and there doesn't appear to be anything in there that can be undone.

I have taken another photo from a different angle - there are three circular things on the front of the pulley - one in particular looks like it might move - ie: screw out? Push in? or something.

And there is another photo where you can see right through all the aligning holes - but as I said, I can't seem to make anything happen by putting things through there.

So Im still stuck..... Rolling Eyes

Would a bearing puller, pull it off. Sometimes you just need to use force

Hi Harry, I would try a little heat and try and expand the pulley, with nothing going though the hole ,i.e a grub screw or a bolt I think the only thing holding it on is rust. SO best of luck. regards tony
