Lister LR1 Running Help needed
Hi all, I have just completed my Lister LR1 changing the head with valves, piston, big ends, small end bush, fuel filter.
Now I have had it running today for the first time and although it starts ok and runs, it is smoking a lot and missing its as though to much fuel
is trying to be burnt.
I have bled the fuel system a few times just to be sure no air bubbles, I have read that possibly the injector is not spraying more
dribbling is there any way I can test for that or would it be just wiser to change it, as changed almost everything else, or could it be the pump timing, when I got the engine
the fuel pump was stuck solid which I took apart and cleaned up and reset.
Any suggestions that I could try or need to do would be most helpful.
Regards

Re: Lister LR1 Running Help needed
To test the injector it should be possible to remove the injector and its pipe, refit the pipe on the pump/injector turning it so that the injector is outside of the engine, and then crank the engine over while watching the spray pattern. You may have to 'adjust' the bend of the pipe slightly to do this, not advised by Lister but hey ho, needs must! Just don't overdo it. Keep the injector spray well away from the your hands and skin as diesel under pressure can enter the blood stream, not good!
Pete.

Thanks for that Pete, I was not sure you could remove injector to test, Looking at the pipe to the injector I think it might be wise to make a pipe up if I can, if I bend the original I think I may have problems refitting it.
