Lister D speed
Newbie sort of question.
Photos of the usual 1.5hp version and the 2hp seem identical. Is it just a case of upping the governor speed to get the extra half horsepower, or is there something else going on?

I'm of the thinking its all about RPM - have a look at the original engine manuals...
With luck someone with real experience will support this theory...

Re: Lister D speed
According to the document in your link as well as the different running speed there is a slightly smaller flywheel. I don't know how important that would be in terms of making power.

Re: Lister D speed
my lister d is a 700rpm 1.5hp version and if the revs go over 750 - 800 she shakes uncontrollably. When I get back home next week I will check the manuals to see exactly what the differences are but in my experience it would not be a good idea to simply up the governed speed. A simple experiment would be to override the governor and manually open the throttle but be prepared for the engine to dance around.

Ah............
That's not good news. Mine already bounces up and down a bit because I only have two cast iron wheels under it. The second pair are pneumatic wheelbarrow ones. Can't get cast iron wheels these days for less than the price of another Lister D!
