Lister D flywheel

Hi, my recent project is a 1943 Lister D,its been stood as a garden ornament for 40 yrs and in a rusty state, but it unsiezed very easily but the head was a pig to remove,  my problem is the flywheel !    Someone at some time fitted it with the Gib key knocked in as far as it would go, its up against the flywheel with no chance of getting the removal tool behind it !!!!!  
As anyone else had this problem ?
Any tips would be greatly appreciated.  its looking like getting alot of heat on it by the looks of things  !

No good for us as we don't have welding tackle

Two options, remove the complete flywheel/crankshaft assembly, clean and polish the crankshaft so that the flywheel will slide off easily and take it to somebody with a press who can press the shaft out with the key still in place.

Another possibility, do as above but get a hardwood or concrete block and 'bump' the crank assembly nose down onto it. I have done this a few times to get flywheel's off but the key's were removed beforehand, it may just shift something though?

Clean up the crankshaft and then weld a length of heavy bar on to the key. Weld a piece of heavy angle or box section at right angles to the bar welded to the key and then get a hefty hammer and knock the key out, a bit like a slide hammer. Then simply cut the key off with a hacksaw and clean up with a file. I have had great success on various engines with this method. Cheers Dave
