1939 Lister A Brought home on Friday

Post by rich07961 on Sun Mar 06 2016, 21:09

Brought this home on Friday and spent the last couple of afternoons freeing off rusted linkage, guvnor, cleaned out carb and tank, emptied out the rusty water from magneto and cleaned up points etc luckily had a coil
for it, has not run for nearly 30 years and was happy when it ran today.

Video of it running.

Looks like a good engine. I really like those hopper cooled A & B types. I think it's time to get myself one

Hi Bob,

Its a bit rough around the edges but runs smoother than the one I rebuilt, although I have found the big end bearings will need to be done and
oil ring seized in piston, will leave this one as is and oily rag it for this year, but all in all a nice engine for my collection.

You may find getting a crank a bit of an long wait not seen many bottom ends being sold off, but good luck.
