J.A.P engine - what did I get?

Post by Balder on Tue Mar 29 2016, 19:15

I'm new here and new to stationary engines, so please bear over with my ignorance. I picked up this engine today, from what I have found out it's made in 1953 but I have no clue on engine displacement or what these engines were made for. Can anyone help?

JAP made several different engines for powering a multitude of things so a little more information would be useful and a picture even better Very Happy

I can't find any picture hosting feature on this forum. When I try to link to pictures on Photobucket, I am told that new members have to wait for seven days before they can post external links. Sigh. I'll look elsewhere for information.

Ok, guess my probation/quarantine period is over. Trying again.

It looks like a 2A to me
98cc used to power a lot of different things from water to generators to rotovators.
Looking at yours it could well be a military spec unit.
Is there not more info on the plate by the starter or on the air filter?

Sorry about picture quality, the best I could do without daylight. The text on the sticker is in Danish.
