I purchased a partially restored also featherweight today. However both the whole starting handle assembly and magneto is missing along with the mag's drive gear. Not bad for £15! But the issue is they don't seem to be a very common engine so coming across parts is difficult so if anyone can help please let me know.

Cheers Oliver

Hi Oliver,
Nice find!Good luck with the parts search - I have been looking for a part for mine for some time without success!
There is a very good restoration series on youtube by Steamwally - if you type in 'JAP model 3 restoration' the vids should come up.
All the best,
Kev.

Yes I have found steamwally's series useful and thanks to it I have been able to identify that my engine should have a BTH MC1 mag with it. Until I find a handle assembly I'll rig up a rope starter on the front of the engine as it's just a plain crank end. May I ask what parts do you require? Best of luck also.

Cheers Oliver

Hi Oliver,
I am looking for the push rod cylindrical tube - if you look in the section -'engine items wanted' you will see my 'wanted' request there.
All the best,
Kev.
