Hi all,

New here Smile

Went to look for a car over the weekend and came back with a Lister d and a petter AVA1 engine, I'm 34 and wanted a stationary engine to show since I was a little nipper.

Lister D is unusual. It's marked as 1hp and 500rpm  28DHS. Has a square water tank bolted to the side and petrol TVO options.

Petter AVA1 I picked up just because I liked the look of it and they guy done me a good deal. Seams to be only missing the fuel tank and oil filler cap.

Now the work begins Smile

Lister is already well underway being stripped down, quickly stopped when i reached flywheel removal lol. The head has a massive crack down the water jacket side so I ordered a replacement but will be trying to weld the original back up, although you would never tell as there's no individual marks like a car. Hi and a warm welcome to the forum. Good luck with your projects.

PS I think you need to consider re-sizing your photos Smile

Lister D is interesting being of just 1hp and a petrol kero engine. From the water tank, I suspect it was supplied to Gascoignes to drive a milking machine. There should be a ser no stamped into the flywheel. Having found it, if you send to Doreen at enginbooks (See internet), she holds the factory records and can date it for you. Doubtless the Petter was supplied as a later replacement for the milking bail if found at the same location. Excellent!

Lovely little project!,
Did you order the cylinder head from a chap in Cornwall, if so that was me!

I have found that once you remove the flat pully, the shaft is normally in good condition and the gib key comes out fairly easy. There are several posts on here showing how to remove.
Enjoy your new project, I look forward to seeing how you get on with it!

There's a wide small belt pulley in front of the flywheel, it's so tight I thought it was all one part. I have posted about the magnito issue in the problems page but otherwise all has freed up fairly OK minus couple broken bolts lol.

Yep, ordered the head and few other buts off yourself, recognised the name straight away Very Happy

I have a Lister D R (lister D with a rad on the side) and a climax water pump that I'm restoring, the post is on here if you would like to have a look!

If I can help with any other bits 'n' bobs just let me know!

I guess it's because you are using a different image hosting service. However right click and 'Open in new tab' seems to do the trick. You could try limiting image width to 1024 pixels. No big deal - just soaks up a bit of bandwidth.
Strangely I just checked on my phone and images are fine, but massive on PC. Go figure!

Very nice AVA1, it's actually a series 1 so probably an early one....
The D is unusual in being a 1hp one as well but more of that size seem to be coming out of the woodwork, as Cranium said it was possibly a milking plant engine, the idea of the square tank with the big tap was so the cowman could wash his hands in hot water after milking so I was always told.
