J. A. P 2s
Hello all. Bought a j. A. P 2s the other dag at a market. Started stiping here dowwn and all looks rather good . Sent for a gasket kit but the head gasket seems softer and slimmer than original aluminium one. Replacing as gone a bit tin and black at side of egsaust valve. Its just theres a recess in the head that gos into combustion chamber and wondering if its to close to piston at tdc. First time i ever worked on a j. A. P.. Wood a 2s be old and what hp. Thanks very much.

Re: J. A. P 2s
Is that the gasket set from SEP? I believe L&S Engineers still have some original aluminium head gaskets.

Re: J. A. P 2s
The serial number, which will enable us to date the engine, will be hand stamped into the crankcase.

Re: J. A. P 2s
Yes, that's the engine number.
2S = engine type
O = date code letter
71134 = engine number
68 = specification
Arrow mark on the cowling indicates supplied to the military.
O codes for 1938 and 1958. Looking at the silver/blue paint, and the castings made by Qualcast, I think it will be 1958.
