Aluminium rods Empty Aluminium rods

Well, this morning there was a mysterious glowing disc in the sky over Liquorice Central so I thought I'd try a little gardening. No chance! As my grandad used to say   "Tha can't garden when t' clarts stick to thee boots"

So, into the shed for a dabble with these here aluminium rod jobbies. No chance again! My Rothenburger MAPP gas torch just wasn't up to the job. I guess the sheer mass and thermal conductivity of a T300 flywheel dissipated the heat too efficiently. I can't really justify the cost of an oxy/gas set. Sad

Could you heat the flywheel up on a gas ring (camping stove?) while you do it?

Possibly, but I have other tasks like making a new mounting foot on sump. Will give it some thought.

If you get stuck I can see if I have a replacement flywheel in better condition.

Thanks blue cat - will bear in mind.
Given that I've had it over four years and not made much progress I'm considering finding it a new home where it will be better looked after. Laughing
