Kev,
You need a 12V supply. use the original points and fit a condenser to suit the coil.
+12V to the coil +. coil -ve to points and -ve12V to ground. Positive ground coil can be used just reverse everything!
I considered this method for my Petter A1, but decided to stick with original. A friend suggested something more modern from the scrappers ie crank sensor and engine management system, but I n ever got as far as looking into that.
I'm reasonably well up on electrical principals so if you need help don't hesitate to ask.

Re: how do you wire a flywheel mag to work off a car coil or simiar ideas PLEASE????????
Good question!
Sounds OK so far but why 6V? Do you have handy 6V supply or did it seem like a good idea at the time.
If I go for a botch (no offense meant Kev) I usually go for bits that are readily available in case spares are needed in the future.
Plus, the condenser (a capacitor) needs to be matched to the coil. One last thing, half the voltage means twice the current for the same spark. This may or may not be relevant to your situation.

no your right
its not what i want to be doing with modern syle elctrics and coil
but cant find a coil for a price worth paying for the engines at this time
its cheaper to buy a magneto than a coil for a villiers
just for a roll of wire in gum

Yes, my philosophy is get it working and put it back to original as and when the bits fall into my lap.
Still looking for a three position fuel tap for the A1 tvo.
One always needs a bit of luck with these things.

You have a deal on the fuel tap Kev.
The stud you want, is it the single stud that holds the manifold on?
I will have a look in daylight but I think I have the dies to make one.

All's good Kev.
I can't get the mixture right on my tvo so the carb comes off for a clean in the near future.
When it does I will make you a copy of the stud.
