Workshop tip

Looking at Nutgone's rebuild of his little JAP and seeing those roller bearings reminded me of a little tip I learned years ago. Get a strong magnet and keep it in a plastic bag by the workbench. If you lose a nut/bolt/needle etc... (and you will), just run the bag over the bench, floor, whatever. Turn the bag inside out and take away the magnet. Hey presto.... a bag full of swarf, nuts, springs and rollers. Much better than searching with a torch and usually more successful.

Nice one Dan, I bought one of the pen type magnets that's retractable and that comes in handy so I don't have to bend over to far. (saves my old back )

I like this one too. I've got a couple of strong torroid magnets (doughnut shaped) which I removed from a microwave magnetron (do not try this at home, I've since found out some magnetrons contain dangerous chemicals ) but I was fed up with them getting covered in all those annoying bits of swarf, rust & wire wool whenever I used them to find something!

Plastic bag's a much better idea

I'm glad to say I never needed it for the tiny needle rollers on the JAP though.
