Villiers MK 40 Spark or not

Hi Guys..just purchased a complete and reasonable looking MK40. Buyer said it has spark but can't find it. So it  has the head off and  bought from the UK , just delivered, new coil,points and capacitor. Fitted it up, no spark ...4 ohms on the low side 3.95K ohms on the high side, 12 thou points. Put  a new plug on the HT lead sitting on the block nothing there. Any tips would be appreciated ...cheers  Graham Tokoroa NZ

Hi Graham,

Resistance readings on coil look fine.
First off check for short circuit somewhere else e.g LT between coil and body (does yours have spiral metal tube around LT lead to contact breaker?) Possible short on cut out button, Is HT lead in good shape? Old school, i.e. non resistive,  HT lead?
