Amanco rebuild more help needed

Help with dimensions please. 
Due to my "Hired Man" pushrod being non original with no governor latch or latch mounting hole, before I make and fit a latch plate to the pushrod I need to know how far open the exhaust valve is held when the latch is in the engaged position or no cylinder compression position.
David Appleton's book Hired Man Restoration is very good for pictures etc but unfortunately gives no dimensions to help with making parts.
