Hello I collect vintage garden machinery and while looking for more info on a douglas sv 54 i came across this site . Currently finishing a 1947 trusty tractor powered by a Douglas sv 54. I have a big collection of howard rotovators  powered by everything from jap engines to engines such as the british junior howard built themselves (1940's)

Thanks  Guys ........my current project is 1947 trusty  2 wheel tractor and plough  fitted with a Douglas sv 54 engine . Its almost finished .....hoping to give it a  first run in a few days. This is certainly a friendly forum !!
I will post a few pics in the next few days .

I fancy having a go at a smaller Villiers powered rotavator. They are, after all, covered by Pumps & Engine Driven Equipment.

Hi Paul  i have two villiers powered rotovators an auto culto with a mark 15 Villiers  and a Howard 200 with a Villiers mark 12....a least they are light ..the Douglas sv 54 weights 96kgs !!!

Am I right in thinking there was also a JAP powered Trusty?

Yes jap 5 (early ones) and Jap 6  (later ones) also used Briggs ZZ and Blackburn engines during war years. I bought a jap 6 that was off a scrapped trusty  for its clutch (engine was missing loads of parts)and rebuilt it  and sold it on ...really should have used it instead  of the Douglas Sv 54  it was a better engine when rebuilt.......put a video of it running (you tube)  and a guy drove 250 miles to buy it ...ended up in a Garner 1950's garden tractor.
